4.2. Configuring inReach for automatic Postion Reporting
To create/update and configure a DeLorme InReach device, follow these steps...
After registering your inReach and creating an account at http://www.ocens.com/snap, go to snap.ocens.com, click on the Manage Settings link in the lower left portion of the Control Settings and enter your SnapTrack username and password on the next screen to log into the Manage Settings page. Look for the blank Tracking link cell on this page.
NOTE: If you have not yet been to your Manage Settings page, you can use it to create or change your screen name, change the name you want to associate with your vessel or asset icon on the SnapTrack screen, join a group and/or paste your inReach Shared Page link.
Now log into your inReach account at inreach.garmin.com and create a Shared Page. This is the mechanism that allows SnapTrack to acquire your device's message data.
Enter your device's Raw KML Feed link. To determine your device's Raw KML Feed link, follow these steps:
You might see a link already present right under the MapShare: On button. If so copy this link and go directly to Step 2 below.
If not, look next to "Your MapShare" text for a small link called "feeds". Click it. If the feeds link isn't present, click the MapShare: Off button and refresh the page (MapShare: Off will change to MapShare: On).
Find the Raw KML Data link and copy it. IT CAN BE EASY TO SELECT OTHER LINKS ON THE INREACH PAGE. YOU MUST SELECT THE LINK ASSOCIATED WITH KML DATA LINK.
Login to your Snap account and then select the Manage SNAP link.
Now select the Shared Link link in the menu on the upper right of your screen, you can now enter your shared page url into the field and click the "Change Shared Page URL" button to save your settings.
To return to the SNAP tracking page just click the Tracking link in the menu.
That's it. Your inReach positions will now be automatically posted to your SnapTrack page.
