5.1. Sending position data to Teams via Garmin
You have three ways to send a position to the Teams tracking page
1. Send positions automatically by connecting your MapShare account.
i) Setting things up via the Garmin website: https://explore.garmin.com
a. Log into your Garmin account at https://explore.garmin.com
b. Click on the MapShare option from the menu section.
e. Turn on the MapShare option.
f. Review the MapShare consent language and Agree to it if you are to use MapShare. Click Done.
f. Exit the explore.garmin.com page, launch your Messenger app and sync it to your Garmin by tapping the Device icon at the bottom of the screen and then tapping "Message Check" while wirelessly connected to your device.
ii) Setting things up via the Garmin Messaging app
a. Open the Garmin Messaging app
b. Tap on Device icon at the base of the screen
c. Tap the Tracking icon
d. Select the settings icon from the lower left
e. Select MapShare settings
f. Turn the MapShare option on
g. If you have not done so already - select the View Consent option and consent to the terms and tap Done
h. You can now return to the home page - your MapShare is now setup to share your position with Teams.
Enable auto-tracking via the Garmin Messaging app.
a. Click on Device icon at the base of the screen
b. Click on Tracking
c. Click on the Tracking gear icon to adjust the tracking frequency, then Done and Done.
d. Click on the Start Tracking button.
2. Use a Preset Message to quickly send a position manually.
i. Setting things up once at explore.garmin.com
a. Log into your Garmin account at https://explore.garmin.com
b. Click on the Messages tab
c. Choose one of the three available Preset messages and Edit it
d. Enter the IMEI of your Garmin and [email protected] as the email address. Leave the MapShare box unchecked.
e. Save your edits and complete a device sync by forcing a Message Check from your app/device
ii. To use the Preset on your device
a. Click on the device icon at the base of your device screen
b. Click on the large Presets button
c. Choose the [email protected] preset
3. Manually send your position to [email protected] with a message
a. Select the new message icon in the top right corner of your app
b. Enter the email address: [email protected] in the To: field
c. Type any word in the message box, maybe "Hi" or "Position", and press the send arrow.
