Pending Group Actions: Here you can make changes to any pending group actions, such as joining a new group or removing yourself from a group ,before your next connection and message transfer session.
Join Public Group: Here you can view a list of public groups that are active and choose to join the group.
Note: You must have your account set to Public to join a Public Group.
Any Public user can join a Public Group.
Joining the group will allow you to post messages and receive messages from the group.
Resign from Group: Use this to resign yourself from any groups (Public or Private) that you might be a member of. This will take you off the list and you will no longer receive messages from the group.
Create a New Group: This is where you create a new Public or Private Group.
Any user can create a Public or Private Group.
Group names can be a maximum of 18 characters long with no spaces or punctuation.
Public Groups can be seen by all users. Only Public user can join Public Groups. This is similar to a online forum type setup and great for connecting with other users with similar interests (such as cruising groups that might be talking about specific cruising grounds as an example).
Private Groups cannot be seen by other users unless the owner (user that created the group) has added the user to the group.
The owner can add or remove users from the group.
When a user is added to the group a notice is sent to the user notifying them that they have be joined to the group.
Only the owner can Delete the group
Delete a Group: If you have created a private group you can delete that group here.
Add Members to a Group: This allows you to add specific users from the Public contacts list or you can enter any your contacts or to your Private Group.
Remove Users from a Group: Here you can remove users from your Private Group.
Other Note regarding Groups
If your user state is set to Public and you are a member of a Public group and you decide to become Private - you will be automatically removed from the Public Groups.
Only OneMessage Users can be part of a Group. If you have a contact in you contacts list that only has a phone number you cannot add them into a Group. You can add them as an additional recipient of the message however they cannot reply to the message.
If a Group has been deleted, the client chat session will show “[deleted group]” in place of the Group name.
Blocking messages: From the Chat Messages Session window, by right clicking on a USER or Group name you can Block all incoming messages from that user. This prevents any messages (no matter what Chat Sessions they may be included in) to be delivered from that User or Group.
